“Take Care” is an ongoing collaborative project between Jennifer Bennett and Brandon Davis that seeks to explore issues of liberty and national identity in an effort to find methods to realize a democratic approach to transnational society. With this project we seek to engage possibilities for the individual to determine the nature and course of his own life.
A central theme to the project is that art and artists must be free to fulfill their function. The function of art has been debated for centuries without resolution. It is not our intention to further an academic discussion about the role of art in society but rather to declare that in our lives art is important, and we have devoted our selves to living our definition of it. Some aspects of the artistic lifestyle are themselves an art form in that they highlight the potential for self determination in that they seek creative solutions to everyday situations. We want to investigate this potential and how alternative forms of communities emerge from it.
